Encrypting On Your Server - How It Works

• You install GPG or PGP on your personal desktop computer
• You generate a PGP key which includes a private key and a public key
• We install GPG on your server
• We import your public key into the server's keyring
• We program your server to encrypt sensitive information using your public key
• You copy the encrypted information (via download, email, etc.) to your desktop computer
• You decrypt the encrypted information on your desktop computer using your private key

GPG uses "Public Key Cryptography" - your private key is never stored on the server. Even if an attacker gets access to every file on your server he can't decrypt the information because he doesn't have your private key.
